美國權威電影網站《綜藝 Variety》稍早公告了編輯團隊共六人票選出來的影史百大喜劇片，經典喜劇片《笑彈龍虎榜》榮登榜首，《熱情如火》居次，伍迪艾倫（Woody Allen）執導的《安妮霍爾》位居第三。而名單中位置最前的21世紀電影則是位居第14位的《尋找新方向》，排名最前的非英語電影則是名列第15的《遊戲時間》。
該片單嚴重侷限於西方視角，完全沒有亞洲電影獲得青睞，以華裔美國人為背景的《媽的多重宇宙》是與亞洲最相關的電影，名列87位。名單中仍有驚喜，黑色喜劇《冰血暴》位在第八位，也有兩部單口喜劇電影入選，分別是《李察普瑞爾火爆現場》與《野馬秀》。
