釜山影展在今年召集來自34個國家的161名電影專業人士（包括導演、製片人、演員、影評人、學者、影展選片人）選出影史百大電影，名單於稍早公布。最終楊德昌的《牯嶺街少年殺人事件》（附圖）名列第一，侯孝賢的《悲情城市》排在第二，小津安二郎的《東京物語》則位居第三。
在名單當中，台灣電影表現卓越，除了上述兩部電影之外，排序從後至前尚有《風櫃來的人》（侯孝賢）、《色，戒》（李安）、《愛情萬歲》（蔡明亮）、《南國再見，南國》（侯孝賢）、《飲食男女》（李安）、《戀戀風塵》（侯孝賢）、《囍宴》（李安）、《海上花》（侯孝賢）、《冬冬的假期》（侯孝賢）、《不散》（蔡明亮）、《恐怖分子》（楊德昌）、《臥虎藏龍》（李安）、《俠女》（胡金銓）、《童年往事》（侯孝賢）、《一一》（楊德昌）等作上榜。
名單中問世年份最早的電影是吳永剛執導的《神女》（1932），最新的電影則是越南新銳導演范天恩（Pham Thien An）執導的《霧中潛行》（2023）。在2010年後問世的作品共有16部，包括李滄東、是枝裕和、洪常秀、奉俊昊、王兵等導演之作，反而侯孝賢的《刺客聶隱娘》（2015）意外未被選入。
